Joan Shotade

Joan is a fully registered psychologist and holds specialist endorsement in counselling psychology.

She has extensive experience in community health, university and TAFE counselling services, medical and mental health services and in private practice. She has specialist training in the treatment of trauma, student counselling and same sex issues.

Joan takes a personalised, tailored approach aimed at managing change related to emotional stresses and difficult personal issues. She uses a humanistic approach in counselling to provide a safe, genuine and caring environment in which to explore meaningful issues.

Therapy will focus on using a person’s strengths to achieve personal development and an increased sense of well being. The aim is for people to cope better with current difficulties, build resilience to new stresses and develop their potential for happiness.
